Writesonic review: pricing, user ratings & alternatives
The short answer: Writesonic used to be an AI writing tool and is now mainly an AI visibility platform: on every plan it tracks how often ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention your brand, and it writes 15 to 50 articles a month that you push to WordPress and other systems in one click. It starts at $99 a month. On Capterra it’s rated 4.8 out of 5 from 2,102 reviews, on Trustpilot 4.6 from 5,764. Most of those reviews, however, describe the earlier writing tool.

Features
What Writesonic does.
Writesonic now calls itself an “AI Search Growth Engine”. An AI Visibility Tracker runs your prompts daily in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and shows mentions, sources and, on Growth, sentiment. A site audit checks your pages and fixes issues automatically where possible.
Writing happens in the AI Article Writer: articles of 3,000 to 8,000 words, researched from the top-ranking pages, with images and sources, in your brand voice. Writesonic, Inc. is based in San Francisco; by its own account, more than 10,000 marketing teams use the tool.

Reviews
What users say. Ratings from four platforms.
Writesonic has a very large number of reviews, but nearly all of them date from its time as a writing tool. There are very few texts about today’s product with AI tracking, for example about 6 on Trustpilot from 2026. We couldn’t verify a G2 value: G2 blocks retrieval, and the Google search result showed none on the day we checked.

What users like
- Article quality and speed: fast blog articles in your own brand voice, the most frequent plus.
- Step-by-step articles: choose headings, intro and paragraph topics before the final text.
- Publishing straight to WordPress, ease of use.
What users criticize
- Inconsistent quality: texts often need a thorough edit.
- Price: too high, with important features on pricier plans.
- Billing: on Trustpilot, critical reviews are mostly about cancellation and refunds.
- The reviews say little about today’s product: nearly all describe the earlier writing tool.
In their words
“Writesonic is so good at generating interesting articles in your brand voice. The SEO checker is very helpful to boost your SEO score.”
Trustpilot
“Overall the content is decent but will need a good edit.”
Trustpilot
“It’s not a bad AI SEO platform after all. Results lacked only in consistency a little for me. But it’s kind of overpriced …”
Trustpilot
“I love that you can choose the article headings, introductions and paragraph topics step by step before the final article is created.”

On Reddit
Reddit blocks direct retrieval. What you see here is only the snippet Google Search shows, often cut off mid-sentence.
“Writesonic is a great AI tool for writers, especially those struggling with writer’s block or needing help with specific content formats.”

“it’s a legit writing assistant. It’s solid for outlines, quick drafts, and ideation.”

Who it’s for
Who Writesonic is a good fit for. And who it isn’t.
A good fit for
- Marketing teams that want to track AI visibility and close the gaps with articles, on one plan.
- Teams on WordPress, Webflow, Ghost or a headless CMS like Sanity or Contentful.
- Agencies that want to show clients their AI visibility (separate agency plan).
Less of a fit for
- Anyone who only wants to write, without tracking: the entry plan costs $99 a month, and AI tracking is always included.
- Anyone who wants articles published automatically on a schedule: Writesonic doesn’t describe that, and approval workflows are listed only for Enterprise.
Claire fits if your articles should go live with approval per article or automatically, to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Shopware, at a fixed price from €199 a month. In return, Writesonic tracks more AI engines: three on its entry plan, all eight on Enterprise; Claire tracks ChatGPT and Google AI.

Questions
Good to know.
What does Writesonic do?
Writesonic tracks how often AI search engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention your brand, audits your website and writes articles to close gaps. You push the articles to WordPress and other systems in one click.
How much does Writesonic cost?
According to the pricing page (as of October 8, 2026), Starter costs $99 a month ($79 billed annually) with 15 articles, Basic $249 ($199) with 25 articles and Growth $499 ($399) with 50 articles. Enterprise is on request.
Is Writesonic free to use?
No, but you can try it for 7 days without a credit card, with limited runs. The pricing page shows no permanently free plan.

What are the best Writesonic alternatives?
Surfer as an SEO editor with AI articles and AI tracking from Pro, Jasper for marketing teams, and dedicated GEO tools like Peec AI or Otterly.AI if you only want tracking. If you want articles published with approval per article, Claire starts at €199 a month.
How we compared
Method and sources, as of Oct 8, 2026
- Compiled on October 8, 2026 by Claire (wordsmattr GmbH, Vienna). Claire writes articles itself and is therefore not neutral. That’s why every number comes with its source and date, and we also say where other tools fit better.
- Ratings: G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and OMR Reviews (a German software review platform). G2 and Capterra don’t allow automated retrieval. Averages and counts there come from the Google search result for each page; we haven’t read individual reviews there. Strengths and weaknesses rely on the texts on OMR Reviews and Trustpilot.
- Several of these tools repositioned in 2025 and 2026. Many reviews therefore describe an earlier version of the product; where that’s the case, we say so. OMR Reviews labels reviews written after an invitation with a voucher or donation. That says nothing about individual texts, but it can raise the average.
- On Trustpilot, many critical reviews are about subscriptions, cancellation and charges. We mention these topics, but we don’t quote them.
- Reddit: direct retrieval is blocked. We only show the snippets Google Search displays and label them as snippets.
- Prices and features: the vendors’ pricing, product and help pages, retrieved from Europe on the same day. Some vendors show euros or dollars depending on your location. Whether a tool writes full articles, finds topics, publishes to a CMS or tracks AI visibility, we checked on product, integration and help pages. Prices change; the vendor’s own page is binding.
- Quotes: verbatim and shortened, with role, rating and date, without names. Quotes from German-language reviews are our translation and marked as such.
- Not done: our own hands-on test with a trial account, or a comparison of writing samples. Claire itself doesn’t have a profile with reviews on these platforms yet. We review this comparison regularly, at least quarterly.
